There have been hundreds of articles written about Yenko cars.
Yenko was legendary with the high performance modifications of all
the cars they sold. With a history like that, a Yenko Camaro speaks
for itself. In general terms though, one would have to say that the
69 Camaro with its body style and RPO (regular production order)
factory option list made it one of the most popular musclecars of
all time. When adding Yenko Chevrolet’s Yenko/SC package by
ordering the Camaro with the COPO (Central Office Production Order)
9561 Big Block 427, it gave the Camaro a performance package that
was second to none. Can it get much better than that?
This particular Camaro was sold new through one of Yenko’s
affiliated Chevy dealers Roy Stauffer Inc, in Scranton, Pa. It came
from the factory with the COPO 427, Muncie 4-speed, 12 bolt 4.11
posi, ZL2 air induction hood, black interior, buckets, AM radio,
power steering, power front disc brakes, front spoiler, body color
front rubber bumper, rear spoiler, rally wheels, and raised white
letter tires. Yenko added their graphics, badges, emblems, special
engine tune, Hurst shifter and Stewart Warner Tach mounted on the
column.
Other aspects of this car worth mentioning are that it retains
its original motor and sheet metal. It was a very good original car
not needing much to bring it to its beatifully restored condition.
The restoration work was by Dave Tinnell at Dave’s Auto in
Edmonton Kentucky.
