1969 Yenko Camaro 427

There have been hundreds of articles written about Yenko cars. Yenko was legendary with the high performance modifications of all the cars they sold. With a history like that, a Yenko Camaro speaks for itself.

In general terms though, one would have to say that the 69 Camaro with its body style and RPO (regular production order) factory option list made it one of the most popular musclecars of all time. Therefore by ordering the 1969 Camaro with the COPO (Central Office Production Order) 9561 Big Block 427, and also adding Yenko Chevrolet’s Yenko/SC package gave the Yenko Camaro a combination performance package that was second to none.

The part of this equation that Yenko Chevrolet delighted in best, was that the Chevrolet factory, was building the 427 Camaro for him. As you recall, it was in 1967, and 1968, that Yenko Chevrolet put in 427 motors themselves, and therefore had to warranty those motors.

There were 201 of these 1969 Yenko Camaros produced with the 427 COPO motors. Much fewer survive today, as many of these cars were raced and had a high attrition rate. Thankfully Yenko records, and list of VIN numbers were retained to verify and authenticate many of the old race cars that have been restored to their original glory.

This particular Yenko Camaro was not raced, and retains its original drivetrain, and sheetmetal. The Daytona Yellow color, accented by black stripes and vinyl top, is a very eye appealing combo.
